Scientific Approach to the Oriental Medicine

Abstract
In spite of the fact that the oriental medicine has neither changed its basic theories nor any dramatic clinical advancement for the fast 5000 years. Its definetely challenges 21 century science. There is still a big gap in understanding and clinical approach between the oriental medicine which is based on philosoply and the western medicine which is based on science and technology although they share the common goal in curing discases and maintaining health. Since the oriential medicine and western medicine are complimentary of each other, scientific understanding of the oreintial medicine and philosophic understanding of the western medicine sill make significant contribution in bringing the world medicine to a higher level.
The philosophic approach to science require only reorintation of the theories while scientific process emphasizes the objectivity and the reproducibility. Four categories of research in oriential medicine especially acupuncture include anatomic, histologic, electro-magnetic, metabolic-humoral, and psycho-somatic directions. Application of science and, technology in the research of oriental medicine will be the most important step toward a more complete medicine in the future.
